Mike Sharp
BSc MCIEEM

Mike has nearly 20 years of experience in the ecological sector, having worked both as a consultant ecologist and also within the planning system. From 2008 to 2014, he provided ecological planning support within a local authority, giving him valuable insight into the planning process.
Since then, Mike has delivered ecological services across a diverse range of development projects, including restoration and extensions of private estate buildings, barn conversions, listed building works, historic bridge restorations and residential schemes. Mike also still provides local planning authority ecology support for a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. He has a strong interest in bat ecology and is highly experienced in inspecting buildings, structures and trees for roost potential and mitigating impacts on bats.
Mike is the named ecologist on over 60 successful European Protected Species (EPS) mitigation licences for bats in England and Wales and is Accredited at Level 3 of the Bat Earned Recognition Licence. This accreditation enables Swift Ecology to offer our clients access to the benefits of the Bat Earned Recognition Licensing process. He is also a Registered Consultant under Natural England’s Bat Low Impact Class Licence (BLICL). In addition, he holds survey licences for bats, dormice, great crested newts, and barn owls in both England and Wales.
Outside of work, Mike balances his full-time role at Swift Ecology with family life, raising four kids with his partner Clare. He enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly family walks and cycling in the Cotswolds and tending to his allotment, living the good life wherever he can.
